iheart variation 002
4th St Cafe | Williamsburg | Brooklyn | 2009
A series of screenprinted, then hand painted canvases on wood blocks, each measuring 7”X7”.
This series was made in early 2009, during a trip to Northern California, between Berkeley and the Napa Valley, after the discovery and purchase of a Gocco screen printer from Japan.
Symbols from the iheart project were selected and printed using the Gocco, then further painted by hand.
The wood blocks were African Mahogany and American Walnut, crafted in a size resembling children's building blocks, then bored for a one screw backing, to enable modular hanging and juxtapositions.
They were exhibited once in April 2009, for a show titled “Word”, curated by James Banta.
