iheart intervention 005

Witzenhausen Gallery | Chelsea, NYC | 2010

Installed in October of 2010, iheart intervention 005 consisted of black, laser cut word and thought bubbles juxtaposed with several art works in the show by Jowhara Alsaud and Mitsy Groenendijk.

These intervention works were the most controversial to date, lasting only days into the show, before protest from the artists' camps reached a level where the gallery pulled the pieces down.

There was intense debate and discussion, around aesthetics, artist intention and authorship, and the whispers around adding or subtracting monetary value to the respective artworks.  At the opening, artist Jowhara Alsaud approached and shared her feelings:

I don’t know whether to hug you or hit you.
