iheart poetics 002
The Drop | Chelsea | NYC | October 2009
A performative poetics installation created for The Drop, an exhibition focused on the future relationship of the urban-based artist and city dweller to their environs.
This second iteration of the poetics series featured a mutable poetic text on a wall of steel suspended on chains, measuring 8’X5’.
In the center of installation, performative poems were created with fellow artists and the public, channeling their words and stories through a manual Smith Corona typewriter, onto magnet paper, then cut-up via scissor, edited and placed on small steel plates framed in wood.
Polaroid portraits were taken of the subjects and taped on the wall next to their respective visual poem. Large steel plates framed in wood meanwhile held an ongoing offshoot of mutable texts created by the public.
