Happening 001
Cafe Select | NYC | May 2009
An event series mixing art, music and space into the social fabric of the moment. With roots in the 60s, each Happening created a temporary but singular experience, blurring the definition between audience and artist.
Happening 001 occurred in the back room of Cafe Select in Soho, NYC, featuring the artwork of Danish artist Ditte Gantriis.
Her work explores the fragmentation and reconstruction of narrative, gender and identity as fractured wholes, featuring imagery alluding to a strange sort of shared privacy. Masks were provided to all participants, in play with the theme of the night.
