iheart poetics 002

iheart poetics 002 was created in October 2009 for The Drop show in Chelsea, an exhibition with a conceptual theme of 2012+,  focused a on works exploring “the relationship of the urban-based artist and city dweller to their environs”

This installation featured a mutable text installation on a hanging wall off steel, suspended on chains from the ceiling, flanked by the poem’s added vocabulary.

I was installed within the center, creating works in realtime channeled through a 1950s Smith Corona typewriter onto magnetic paper.

The performative poems, often made in collaboration, were cut-up via scissor, placed and/or edited on wood-framed steel canvases.

Polaroid portraits were taken of the subjects, choosing words chosen to represent themselves, then taped on the wall next to the respective visual poem.

This is the original central text for the work:

the journey to the east
a rising sun in the west
light spiraling dark rifts
to decipher the enigma
a ghost in the shell
morphing the genesis of form
across an eternal spectrum
where strange bodies attract
2012 + – ? =
a wish
a circular binary
parting the veil
a dedication to every word
world piece
world peace
